HBS awards up to $20,000 each to up to ten (10) incoming MBA students who present outstanding credentials in life sciences disciplines.

  • Credentials may include academic achievements, professional accomplishments, and recognition from outside organizations.
  • Preference is given to students who are planning careers in science-related businesses or organizations.
  • Award is $10,000 for each year.
  • The Kaplan fellowship does not affect eligibility for need-based HBS Scholarships.

This fellowship was created in 2008 by Robert S. Kaplan (MBA 1983), to encourage students with life sciences backgrounds and career interests to attend HBS. Robert S. Kaplan is formerly President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the Martin Marshall Professor of Management Practice, and a Senior Associate Dean at Harvard Business School. Prior to joining Harvard, Kaplan was Vice Chairman of the Goldman Sachs Group.
